The study and development of music reading skills as applied to each of the major instruments. Study includes sight-reading melodic lines and accompaniment parts. The students will learn to read both traditional notation and chart notation. Projects include working on various note reading exercises and rhythm drills individually and in ensemble situations. Major areas of study include the following instruments: Guitar, Electric and Acoustic Bass, Keyboard, Voice and Percussion.

The continued study and development of music reading skills as it applies to each of the major instruments. All players except keyboard students are expected to develop skill in reading in one additional clef sign other than the one traditionally applied to their instrument. Major areas include: Guitar, Electric and Acoustic Bass, Keyboard, Voice and Percussion. [Prerequisite: Reading Development II or Consent of Instructor]
